The Prophet

This address delivered in 1926, to those indicated at the head of it, read in the light of today's events, will leave no doubt in the minds of those who have eyes to see. Shields ability to see the outcome of what would come about if the tenets of the modernism of that time were pursued.

It was he, perhaps more than any other, in Baptist circles who clarified the issues and indicated what was at stake for both Canadian and American Baptists.

Thus, the progress of the blight of unbelief was arrested and the opportunity made for biblically minded peoples to reorganize and continue a faithful testimony free from the burden of compromise.
